Aligarh Highway Accident: Car-Truck Collision Sparks Fire, 4 of Family Dead, 1 Critically Injured

Aligarh: A tragic road accident on National Highway 91 near Nanau Bridge in Aligarh claimed the lives of four members of the same family, including two children, when their car collided head-on with a mini truck early Tuesday morning.

The crash, which occurred around 6:00 am, caused the vehicles to become stuck together, rupturing a fuel tank and triggering a massive fire that engulfed both vehicles within minutes.

The victims, who were returning from a temple visit, included two children aged 5 and 8, along with a man and a woman. Their bodies were charred beyond recognition, while a fifth passenger was rescued by locals and rushed to Aligarh District Hospital in critical condition, with doctors considering shifting him to Agra for advanced treatment.

Superintendent of Police (Rural) Amrit Jain, along with fire brigade teams, reached the spot and managed to douse the flames after 30 to 40 minutes.

Traffic on the busy Agra–Aligarh route was diverted during rescue operations. Police have registered a case and are investigating whether speeding, driver negligence, or mechanical failure caused the crash.

A forensic team has examined the wreckage, and post-mortem examinations are underway. The district administration has announced compensation of ₹2 lakh each for the victims’ families.

In a separate incident in Unnao on the same day, three people were killed when a speeding trailer rammed a stationary truck on the Agra–Lucknow Expressway.
