New Delhi: In a major success for Indian investigative agencies, fugitive Harshit Babulal Jain has been deported from the UAE and handed over to Gujarat Police. Jain, wanted in cases of tax evasion, illegal gambling, and money laundering, was brought back to India on 5 September 2025 through coordinated efforts by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), and Gujarat Police.
The CBI had earlier issued a Red Notice against Jain through INTERPOL on 9 August 2023 at the request of Gujarat Police. Following his detention in the UAE, Jain was deported and formally handed over to Gujarat Police at Ahmedabad International Airport.

INTERPOL Red Notices are circulated globally to law enforcement agencies to help track and apprehend wanted fugitives. As the National Central Bureau for INTERPOL in India, the CBI coordinates with domestic law enforcement through the BHARATPOL platform for assistance via INTERPOL channels.
According to officials, over the last few years, more than 100 wanted criminals have been successfully brought back to India with the help of international cooperation facilitated through INTERPOL.
