Simone Tata, Former Tata Executive and Stepmother of Ratan Tata, in ICU at Breach Candy Hospital

Simone Tata, the 95-year-old former Tata Group executive and stepmother of industrialist Ratan Tata, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital and is currently in critical condition. Sources from the hospital confirmed that she is receiving care in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on the fourth floor. She was flown into Mumbai from Dubai on Tuesday after initial treatment at King’s Hospital, following complications related to fluid accumulation in her lungs. While her condition is serious, reports suggest that she is currently stable.

Simone Tata, a highly respected figure in Indian business, is best known for transforming Lakmé into a leading cosmetics brand before it was sold to Hindustan Unilever in the 1990s. Born as Simone Naval Dunoyer in Geneva, Switzerland, she first visited India in 1953 as a tourist. She married Naval H. Tata in 1955 and soon became an integral part of the Tata Group, playing a vital role in shaping the company’s consumer product ventures beginning in the 1960s.
