Japan Introduces AI-Powered Pod That Washes and Relaxes You in Just 15 Minutes

In a striking leap toward futuristic personal care, Japan has unveiled an innovative “human washing machine” that can cleanse and dry your body in just 15 minutes. Developed by Science Co., a tech company based in Japan, this spa-style machine — named Mirai Ningen Sentakuki — combines cleanliness with mental wellness using artificial intelligence and advanced hydro-technology. The user steps into a transparent pod that fills halfway with warm water, after which high-pressure jets infused with microscopic air bubbles work to gently yet effectively clean the skin.

The AI system personalizes each wash session by analyzing physical metrics like body temperature, skin type, and stress levels, automatically adjusting the water temperature and jet intensity for optimal comfort. In addition to physical hygiene, the pod enhances mental relaxation by analyzing the user’s emotional state and displaying calming visuals inside the capsule, along with playing soothing music.

This innovation draws inspiration from a similar concept showcased by Sanyo Electric at Japan’s 1970 Expo. The updated version is set to be featured at the upcoming Osaka Expo 2025, where 1,000 visitors will have the chance to test the machine firsthand. Post-expo, the company plans to move toward full-scale production, with future plans to release a home-use version for busy professionals and elderly care facilities.

Science Co. is currently accepting pre-orders through its website. According to company chairman Yasuaki Aoyama, development is nearly complete, and the device is expected to redefine personal hygiene by merging convenience, AI, and relaxation into a single automated experience.
