PM Modi to visit Bengaluru on Sunday to launch yellow line metro, Vande Bharat Express

Bengaluru: On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to visit Bengaluru to inaugurate the highly anticipated Yellow Line of the Bangalore Metro, along with the Vande Bharat Express train service connecting Bengaluru and Belagavi.

According to the itinerary released by the Chief Minister’s Office, Modi will engage in three events during his approximately four-hour stay in the city.

Upon his arrival at HAL Airport at 10:30 am, the Prime Minister will proceed by helicopter and road to the KSR Bengaluru (city) railway station, where he will flag off the Vande Bharat Express trains operating between KSR Bengaluru and Belagavi.

Additionally, he will virtually launch two more Vande Bharat Express trains connecting Amritsar to Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katri, and Ajni (Nagpur) to Pune.

Following this, Modi will travel by road to the RV Road (Ragigudda) metro station on the Yellow Line.

Between 11:45 am and 12:50 pm, he will flag off the Yellow Line (reach 5) and take a metro ride to the Electronic City station.

From there, he will head to the International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Bengaluru, where he will lay the foundation stone for the Bangalore Metro Phase 3 and officially inaugurate the Yellow Line from RV Road (Ragigudda) to Bommasandra station.

Afterward, he will return to HAL Airport by helicopter and depart for Delhi at 2:45 pm.

The Yellow Line, spanning 19.15 km from RV Road to Bommasandra, comprises 16 stations and has been constructed at a cost of Rs 5,056.99 crore.

Officials indicate that this line is anticipated to alleviate traffic congestion in several heavily trafficked areas, including Hosur Road, Silk Board Junction, and Electronics City Junction.

The Metro Phase 3, also referred to as the Orange Line, for which the Prime Minister will lay the foundation, will extend 44.65 km and is projected to be built at an estimated cost of Rs 15,611 crore.
