Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla Leaves the Dragon Space Pod After Splashdown

Astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla exited the capsule on Tuesday after successfully completing the Axiom 4 mission.

After the splashdown, a medical officer entered the pod to assess the health of Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla, along with his mission commander Peggy Whitson and mission specialists Slawosz Uznanski-Wisniewski from Poland and Tibor Kapu from Hungary.

The SpaceX Crew Dragon capsule “Grace,” which was carrying Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla and his fellow Ax-4 crew, safely splashed down in the Pacific Ocean off the Southern California coast—near San Diego—at around 3 PM IST on July 15, 2025, marking the end of their 22-hour descent from the ISS.
