Vasant Kunj Godman Accused of Exploiting Women, Sending Obscene WhatsApp Messages

New Delhi: Disturbing allegations have surfaced against self-styled godman Swami Chaitanyananda Saraswati, with WhatsApp chats revealing years of sexual harassment and intimidation of female students.

According to report, the chats—retrieved from the phones of nearly 50 women—suggest that Chaitanyananda has been exploiting women for over 16 years.

In one message, he allegedly wrote, “Come to my room… I’ll take you on a trip abroad, you won’t have to pay anything.” In another conversation, he appeared to threaten a student, warning, “If you don’t obey me, I will fail you.”

Chaitanyananda, a member of the management committee at the Sri Sharada Institute of Indian Management, reportedly received assistance from three female wardens who allegedly cajoled and intimidated victims through WhatsApp and phone calls. Police have recorded the statements of the wardens as part of their investigation.

Authorities believe Chaitanyananda’s actions were emboldened by his past escapes from two molestation cases registered in 2009 and 2016, in which no significant action was taken by either the police or ashram authorities.

According to police, the godman specifically targeted women from Economically Weaker Sections (EWS). On August 4, a complaint was filed at Vasant Kunj North Police Station.

Investigators have since recorded statements from 32 PGDM students under the EWS scholarship at the institute. Out of these, 17 women accused Chaitanyananda of using abusive language, sending obscene messages, and making unwanted physical advances.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are working to gather further evidence to hold the accused accountable.
