Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Permits Loudspeakers for Ramlila, Durga Puja Until Midnight

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Tuesday that loudspeakers used during Ramlila, Durga Puja, and other cultural-religious events in the national capital can now operate until midnight.

The extension is aimed at allowing Hindu festivals in Delhi to continue without time restrictions, similar to celebrations in other states.

Speaking to reporters, CM Gupta said, “I always noticed that our Hindu festivals face difficulties, because Ramlila or Durga Puja can never end at 10 pm. When Dandiya goes on all night in Gujarat and events continue overnight in other states, why shouldn’t it be the same for the people of Delhi? So this time, we’ve given permission for all Ramlilas, Durga Pujas, and cultural-religious festivals to continue until 12 am.”

The announcement coincides with the ongoing nine-day Navratri festival, celebrated with devotion across India. Each day of Navratri is dedicated to a different form of Goddess Durga, representing various aspects of strength, compassion, and wisdom.

Devotees participate in fasting, singing devotional songs, and traditional dances like Garba and Dandiya, creating a festive and joyful atmosphere.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered prayers to Goddess Brahmacharini on the second day of Navratri and sought blessings for all devotees.

On his social media platform, X, PM Modi wrote, “On this Navratri, today, millions of salutations at the feet of Maa Brahmacharini! May the Goddess Mother bless all her devotees with courage and restraint,” and shared a Devi Stuti (spiritual chants) for the occasion.

Sharadiya Navratri is a vibrant Hindu festival spanning nine nights, celebrating the divine feminine energy embodied by Goddess Durga and marked by elaborate rituals, worship, and cultural performances.
