Lucknow: Panic gripped passengers on board Indigo flight 6E-2111 from Lucknow to Delhi on Saturday morning, September 13, after the aircraft was forced to abort take-off due to an engine fault. Among the 151 passengers was Samajwadi Party MP and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s wife, Dimple Yadav.
The incident occurred around 10:30 a.m. at Chaudhary Charan Singh International Airport. According to sources, the aircraft had just lined up on the runway when its engines failed to generate sufficient thrust for take-off.
The pilot immediately informed Air Traffic Control and applied emergency brakes, preventing the aircraft from lifting off.
Suraj Singh, a passenger and Samajwadi Party member, later shared his experience on social media, stating that the abrupt halt caused momentary panic inside the cabin.
Crew members quickly reassured passengers, explained the technical problem, and taxied the plane back for inspection.
All passengers were subsequently shifted to another flight bound for Delhi. Dimple Yadav, who was seated in business class, was among those rebooked on the alternate aircraft.
Indigo engineers carried out detailed checks on the grounded aircraft, but reports suggest that the exact fault took several hours to diagnose. The airline later issued an apology to passengers and confirmed that safety protocols were strictly followed.
