Modi–Dhami Synergy Sets New Benchmark in Disaster Management in Uttarakhand

Dehradun: Uttarakhand, renowned for its spiritual significance and natural beauty, has frequently faced devastating natural disasters, including floods, landslides, and cloudbursts. Amidst these challenges, the strong working relationship between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is being hailed as a new model of disaster management.

PM Modi, who shares a deep emotional bond with “Devbhoomi,” has closely monitored relief and rescue operations, maintaining constant dialogue with CM Dhami. His personal commitment to supporting the state has strengthened Uttarakhand’s disaster preparedness and rehabilitation efforts.

On Thursday, although bad weather prevented an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas, PM Modi held a detailed review meeting with CM Dhami and senior officials in Dehradun to assess relief, rehabilitation, and reconstruction plans.

At Jolly Grant Airport, he interacted with disaster victims, assuring them that both central and state governments would provide every possible assistance.

The Prime Minister announced an immediate relief package of ₹1,200 crore for Uttarakhand, alongside ex-gratia compensation of ₹2 lakh for next of kin of the deceased and ₹50,000 for the seriously injured. Orphaned children will receive long-term care under the “PM CARES for Children” scheme.

PM Modi commended the relief and rescue operations carried out by the NDRF, SDRF, army, and state administration. Over the past four years, under CM Dhami’s leadership, several reforms have strengthened disaster management, ensuring quick response times, district-wise damage assessment, and immediate provision of food, shelter, and essential facilities.

The Modi–Dhami synergy has instilled confidence in the people of Uttarakhand, demonstrating that effective, sensitive, and visionary leadership can turn even the most challenging natural disasters into manageable situations. With these coordinated efforts, the state is now advancing rapidly in relief, reconstruction, and development.
