President Droupadi Murmu Urges India to Turn Global Trade Challenges into Opportunities

New Delhi: President Droupadi Murmu on Monday emphasized that India must leverage its exceptional capabilities to transform global trade challenges into new opportunities. Speaking at the platinum jubilee celebrations of the Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC), she noted that India’s engineering export destinations have shifted significantly over the last seven decades.

“EEPC should continue this process of change and work tirelessly to strengthen India’s economy with the spirit of ‘Nation First’,” the President said. She stressed that high-quality engineering products and services at competitive costs are one of India’s greatest strengths.

Over the last decade, India’s engineering exports have grown from $70 billion to over $115 billion, a remarkable achievement given the numerous global trade challenges during this period.

President Murmu highlighted EEPC’s role as a bridge between Indian producers and international markets, urging the council to expand India’s presence in the global value chain. She added that evolving global trade and economic orders have made EEPC’s role even more significant.

“Global Capability Centres of the world’s largest companies are already in India. EEPC and other stakeholders should work towards making India a Global Innovation Centre by providing the right incentives and ecosystem,”

Murmu said, noting that innovation-driven economies are the most competitive and prosperous worldwide. She called on all stakeholders to commit to making India a leading innovation economy by fostering an enabling ecosystem for the country’s talent and energy.
