Nepal continues to witness violent unrest as Gen Z-led protests against corruption and the government’s social media ban intensify. A disturbing video has emerged from Kathmandu showing a young protester collapsing after being struck on the head by a large stone, roughly the size of a brick.
The video, shared on X by user Aprichit Keto and credited to Bagi Post, shows the youth falling unconscious as fellow demonstrators rush to provide medical assistance. His current condition remains unknown.
Protesters began gathering in Maitighar, Kathmandu, on Monday morning, holding placards with slogans such as “Shut down corruption, not social media,” “Youths against corruption,” and “Unban social media.” Demonstrators marched across the capital, voicing strong opposition to the ban on more than two dozen social media platforms imposed by the government on September 4.
According to reports, at least 14 people have already been killed in violent clashes between protesters and security forces. Authorities deployed water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets, and even live rounds after protesters stormed Parliament and vandalized property.
The ongoing protests highlight the growing frustration of Nepal’s youth, who accuse the government of corruption and of silencing free expression through restrictive policies. Despite the heavy crackdown, demonstrations continue to gain momentum across the country.
