26-Year-Old Indian Security Guard Shot Dead in US After Objecting to Public Urination

A 26-year-old Indian man from Haryana’s Jind district was tragically shot dead in California after objecting to a man urinating outside a store where he worked as a security guard. The victim, identified as Kapil, confronted the individual, which led to an argument. The situation quickly escalated when the accused pulled out a firearm and fatally shot him on the spot.

According to reports, Kapil had moved to the US three years ago through the illegal “donkey route,” which involved crossing the Panama jungles and scaling the Mexico border wall. He was initially arrested but later released after legal proceedings. His family had reportedly spent around ₹45 lakh (approx. £450,000) to send him to America.

Kapil is survived by his parents and two sisters. His father, a small farmer, has appealed to both the Central and Haryana governments for assistance in bringing his son’s body back to their native village. The family also plans to approach the local deputy commissioner for support.

This incident adds to a worrying trend of Indian-origin individuals being targeted in the US. In May, an Indian shopkeeper was shot dead during a robbery despite complying with the attacker’s demands. In March, a 24-year-old Indian woman and her 56-year-old father were fatally shot in Virginia after a dispute with a gunman who had come to purchase alcohol.
