A wave of terror has swept through Daurala in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, as women report repeated attempts by unidentified naked men—referred to as the “nude gang”—who allegedly try to drag them into isolated fields. The most recent incident marks the fourth such occurrence, heightening fear across local communities.
In the latest case, a woman traveling alone to her workplace in Bharaala village managed to escape after two nude men attempted to abduct her. Her screams drew nearby villagers, who rushed to the scene only to find the perpetrators had vanished.

Villagers disclosed that previous attempts had gone unreported due to shame and fear. “Villagers initially did not take it seriously. But now there is an atmosphere of fear. This gang has so far targeted only women,” said village chief Rajendra Kumar.
Local police have launched a full-scale investigation. A search operation—utilizing drones—was conducted over several hours under the supervision of senior officials. In addition, CCTV cameras have been installed in surrounding areas, and women police officers have been deployed to boost surveillance and ensure safety.
According to Meerut’s Daurala Station House Officer, Suman Kumar Singh, the suspects may be mentally unstable. An FIR has been filed based on the survivor’s testimony following the most recent attack. However, no arrests have been made so far, despite coordinated efforts with villagers and aerial monitoring.
One of the victims, traumatised by the ordeal, has already changed her commuting route and job to avoid walking alone. Her husband shared this shift in lifestyle with NDTV.
