D.K. Shivakumar Conducts Midnight Inspection to Speed Up Bengaluru Road Repairs

Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar reaffirmed the Karnataka government’s commitment to making Bengaluru’s roads safer and commuter-friendly, emphasizing that road repairs and critical infrastructure projects are being prioritized. In the early hours of the night, Shivakumar inspected multiple stretches across the city, reviewing pothole-filling operations and assessing progress on the Ejipura flyover. Describing the visits as an exercise in “ground-level accountability,” he urged residents to actively report road issues to ensure timely resolution.

The Deputy CM also visited Bagaluru in Yelahanka to oversee civic works personally. Highlighting the role of technology in this initiative, Shivakumar praised the Fix My Street mobile application, which works in coordination with Bengaluru Police to identify and address problem areas quickly.

Launched in 2017, the Fix My Street app allows citizens to upload geo-tagged complaints on issues like potholes, streetlight failures, garbage disposal, and encroachments. These complaints are forwarded directly to ward-level engineers, and users can track progress in real time, fostering transparency between citizens and the administration.

“We are paying close attention to people’s feedback. Every complaint regarding potholes or damaged roads is being prioritized,” Shivakumar stated, adding that the government aims to provide sustainable, long-term solutions rather than temporary fixes to make city mobility safer, faster, and more reliable.
