BCCI Ends Association with Dream11, Seeks New Title Sponsor

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has officially ended its association with fantasy sports company Dream11, BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed on Monday. The board is now exploring options to secure a new title sponsor for the Indian cricket team.

Dream11 had signed a three-year deal worth ₹358 crore in July 2023, replacing edtech company Byju’s as the lead sponsor of the team. The company has also had a strong presence in the Indian Premier League (IPL), including a stint as title sponsor in 2020 after Vivo’s withdrawal.

However, following the passage of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Bill, 2025, which was approved by President Droupadi Murmu, Dream11 announced the suspension of all money-based online gaming contests on its platform. Saikia stated, “Under the new legislation, it will be difficult for BCCI to continue with Dream11 or any other identical gaming companies. So, there is a roadblock and I don’t think BCCI will be able to continue with Dream11 now. We are deliberating on an alternative course of action at this stage.”

The Dream11 contract includes a clause protecting the company from penalties if its core business is banned by the government, meaning it will not face any financial liability towards the BCCI.

With the Men’s T20 Asia Cup in the UAE starting September 9, Saikia said the board has not yet finalized a replacement but is working on alternatives to fill the sponsorship slot. He added that there is roughly 15–20 days to finalize a solution, either through a new sponsor or other arrangements.

Uncertainty also surrounds My11Circle, another fantasy sports company that has been paying ₹125 crore annually to the BCCI as the official fantasy partner of the IPL since 2024. With the new restrictions on money-based online gaming, its deal may also come under review.
