The chargesheet in the Kolkata law college rape case has revealed shocking details, stating that the main accused filmed the victim through an exhaust fan hole and used the videos to blackmail her. The 650-page chargesheet confirms that a medical examination established rape, and forensic analysis matched the accused’s DNA with the samples collected.
The incident took place on June 25 at South Calcutta Law College, where a first-year student was allegedly gang-raped by primary accused Manojit Mishra—an alumnus of the college—along with co-accused Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee. The chargesheet names four individuals: the three main accused and security guard Pinaki Banerjee. CCTV footage recovered from the campus shows the victim being dragged and held hostage by the accused.
Several obscene videos of the victim were found on the accused’s mobile phones. According to the chargesheet, “these videos were recorded through the hole of an exhaust fan installed in the wall.” The videos also contain audio evidence, with voice samples of the accused matching during forensic tests. Mobile phone location data confirmed their presence at the crime scene.
The chargesheet further reveals that security guard Pinaki Banerjee locked the guard room during the assault instead of alerting the police or raising an alarm, making him complicit in the crime.
Investigations show that Manojit Mishra had been arrested eight times before the incident but was repeatedly bailed out by friends. He had been working as a temporary staff member at the college since 2024 but was dismissed after the case. Both Ahmed and Mukherjee, students of the college, have been expelled.
