In a major crackdown on anti-national activities, two Jammu and Kashmir government employees have been dismissed from service for their alleged involvement in terrorist activities and links with the banned outfit Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT). The decision was ordered by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha after security agencies provided evidence of their involvement in arms smuggling and aiding terror operations in Kupwara district.
The employees have been identified as Khursheed Ahmad Rather, a teacher, and Siyad Ahmad Khan, an employee of the Sheep Husbandry Department. Both hail from the Karnah and Keran areas near the Line of Control (LoC). According to official sources, Rather was “actively involved in subversive activities aimed at harming the state” and acted as a key conduit for LeT-sponsored terror activities. He also played a significant role in LeT’s arms smuggling network, concealing weapons for the group.
As per a dossier, Siyad Ahmad Khan was arrested on December 1, 2024, and is currently lodged in District Jail, Kupwara. Police records describe him as a terrorist associate and an underground worker for Lashkar-e-Taiba. The dossier states that despite being a government employee, Khan collaborated with LeT operatives in the Keran region with the intent to wage war against India.
This action is part of a broader campaign by the Jammu and Kashmir administration to remove government employees found involved in anti-national activities. Dozens of employees have been terminated under special provisions that allow the government to act without a prolonged inquiry process when national security is at stake.
