A post-mortem examination on French streamer Raphael Graven, popularly known online as “Jean Pormanove” or “JP,” has ruled out trauma or third-party involvement in his death, officials confirmed on Thursday. According to Nice prosecutor Damien Martinelli, the probable causes of death are believed to be medical and/or toxicological in nature, with additional tests underway for confirmation.
Graven, aged 46, died on Monday in the village of Contes near Nice while livestreaming on Kick, an Australian streaming platform. Footage from the stream showed him lying under a sheet while another person threw a plastic bottle at him. Two forensic doctors found no internal or external traumatic injuries or burns, noting only a few bruises and healed lesions. Prosecutor Martinelli stated that the death was not traumatic and unrelated to any third-party intervention.
Reports suggest that Graven had a history of heart issues and was receiving treatment for a thyroid condition. He had amassed hundreds of thousands of followers on Kick by hosting controversial live shows involving humiliation or abuse. Following his death, Kick announced that all co-streamers involved in the event have been banned and that a comprehensive review of French content is being conducted. The platform is often criticized for its lenient content moderation compared to rivals like Twitch.
