Madurai: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and popular actor Vijay launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), urging its complete abolition in Tamil Nadu. Speaking at a massive rally in Madurai, Vijay said, “Because of your stubbornness, you continue to impose NEET on Tamil Nadu. It pains me to speak about the consequences it has caused here. NEET must be abolished. Will you do this? No, you will never give us what we want or do what is right for us.”
Highlighting the issue of Sri Lankan Navy’s alleged attacks on Tamil Nadu fishermen, Vijay questioned the Centre’s role in safeguarding their rights. “Narendra Modi, this is your third term in power. Did you come to serve all the people or to conspire against our Muslim brothers? The Sri Lankan Navy has attacked 800 fishermen. Ensure their safety and bring back Katchatheevu island from Sri Lanka,” he said.
Vijay also lashed out at the AIADMK for aligning with the BJP, calling it a “slave alliance.” He declared, “Holding power and cheating people with a fascist BJP slave alliance is unacceptable. TVK will never make secret deals or alliances. We fear no one. The people of Tamil Nadu, especially women and youth, stand with us.”
Criticizing AIADMK’s downfall, Vijay remarked, “Do you know who MGR is? During his lifetime, no one could dream of the Chief Minister’s seat. Today, the party MGR founded is in ruins. Its innocent cadres suffer in silence.” He added that the BJP will never succeed in Tamil Nadu, no matter how it disguises itself.
Turning his attention to the DMK, Vijay accused Chief Minister MK Stalin of corruption and poor governance. “Uncle Stalin, answer these questions: Is there honesty in your government? Is law and order maintained? Are women safe? Please tell us,” Vijay said. He further alleged that the DMK secretly maintains ties with the BJP, despite publicly opposing it. “When in opposition, DMK shouts ‘Go back Modi,’ but in power, they welcome him. It’s all a drama,” he added.
TVK General Secretary for Election Campaign Management, Aadhav Arjuna, echoed Vijay’s criticism, accusing the AIADMK of deviating from the ideals of MGR and Jayalalithaa. “AIADMK is trying to allow BJP into Tamil Nadu through the back door,” he said. Attacking MK Stalin, Arjuna stated, “In 2026, TVK will bring a youth revolution with Vijay as Chief Minister, fulfilling Anna’s ideas, which Stalin failed to uphold.”
The TVK, founded in 2024, aims to position itself as a strong third alternative to both the ruling DMK and the opposition AIADMK. The party will contest the Tamil Nadu Assembly elections for the first time in 2026.
