PM Modi Inaugurates Dwarka Expressway and UER-II to Boost NCR Connectivity

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday inaugurated two major national highway projects worth ₹11,000 crore at Rohini, Delhi, aimed at boosting connectivity and easing congestion in the National Capital Region (NCR). The projects include the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway and the Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II), designed to enhance mobility, cut travel time, and reduce traffic load on Delhi’s roads.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), these initiatives reflect the government’s vision of creating world-class infrastructure that improves the ease of living and ensures seamless transportation across the region.

Dwarka Expressway – Delhi Section
Developed at a cost of ₹5,360 crore, the Delhi section of the Dwarka Expressway will connect key locations such as Yashobhoomi, DMRC Blue Line and Orange Line stations, the upcoming Bijwasan railway station, and the Dwarka Cluster Bus Depot.

This 10.1 km stretch includes two packages: Package I (5.9 km) from Shiv Murti intersection to the Road Under Bridge at Dwarka Sector-21, and Package II (4.2 km) from Dwarka Sector-21 RUB to the Delhi-Haryana border. Package II will also provide direct connectivity to UER-II. Notably, the Haryana section of the Dwarka Expressway, 19 km long, was inaugurated by PM Modi in March last year.

Urban Extension Road-II (UER-II)
The Prime Minister also inaugurated the Alipur to Dichaon Kalan section of UER-II, developed at a cost of ₹5,580 crore. This project aims to decongest the Inner and Outer Ring Roads of Delhi and reduce traffic at key choke points such as Dhaula Kuan, Mukarba Chowk, and NH-9.

Additionally, UER-II will connect Delhi to Bahadurgarh and Sonipat, improving industrial connectivity and speeding up goods movement in the NCR. According to the PMO, this will significantly ease urban traffic pressure and enhance economic activity in the region.
