Bhubaneswar: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) President and Leader of the Opposition in Odisha Assembly, Naveen Patnaik, was admitted to a private hospital in Bhubaneswar on Sunday due to age-related health issues, party officials confirmed.

According to senior BJD leaders, the hospital is expected to release a detailed health bulletin soon. The 78-year-old former Odisha Chief Minister had complained of uneasiness on Saturday night, prompting doctors to visit his residence, Naveen Niwas.

Patnaik recently underwent spinal surgery for cervical arthritis at a Mumbai hospital. He had traveled to Mumbai on June 20, had the procedure on June 22, and was discharged on July 7 before returning to Odisha on July 12.

Party leaders assured that he is under proper medical care and further updates will be provided by the hospital shortly.
