Trump Eyes Three-Way Peace Talks With Putin and Zelenskyy After Alaska Summit

U.S. President Donald Trump is reportedly considering a high-stakes three-way meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, following his upcoming summit with Putin in Anchorage, Alaska. The proposed talks aim to address the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, now in its third year, and could mark a significant diplomatic move if realized.

According to sources, Trump recently spoke with several European leaders, including Zelenskyy, and described those conversations as “positive.” He is said to be open to organizing an immediate follow-up meeting with both leaders—Putin and Zelenskyy—if they agree to engage in direct dialogue. The initial summit with Putin is scheduled to take place in Alaska this Friday.

The announcement comes amid a renewed Russian military offensive, marking the largest territorial push into Ukraine in over a year. However, Zelenskyy has reportedly not been invited to the Alaska summit, sparking unease among Ukrainian and European officials who fear that bilateral discussions between the U.S. and Russia could result in concessions at Kyiv’s expense.

During his 2024 presidential campaign, Trump vowed to end the war “on day one” of his presidency. Yet, despite bold rhetoric, there has been little tangible progress toward brokering peace. Trump also previously threatened to impose secondary sanctions on nations trading with Russia, though the deadline for those sanctions passed last week without enforcement.

Sources further claim that Trump has made it clear he may cancel the proposed three-way meeting if he feels Russia is acting in bad faith during negotiations.
