In a tragic accident in Ranchi, four members of a family lost their lives and one woman sustained serious injuries after an autorickshaw collided head-on with a truck on Wednesday night, police said on Thursday.

The accident took place at Chamghati on the Ranchi-Purulia Road, under the jurisdiction of Angara police station. “Four members of a family, including two women, were killed in the incident. One woman was critically injured and admitted to the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi for treatment,” said Angara police station in-charge Hiralal Sah.

According to preliminary investigations, the autorickshaw was traveling toward Ranchi when it collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction toward Muri. Police said the truck driver lost control, leading to the fatal crash. The impact was so severe that the truck overturned. However, the driver fled the scene after the accident.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, and efforts are underway to trace the absconding driver.
