Himachal Flash Floods: Army Rescues Four Stranded Civilians in Kinnaur

The Indian Army rescued four civilians, including one injured person, after flash floods struck parts of Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday evening. The incident occurred in the higher reaches of Rishi Dogri valley in Kinnaur district, following a cloudburst that inundated a bridge across the Sutlej river, according to an official statement issued on Thursday.

The affected site was an active road construction zone under the CPWD towards Gangthang Bralam. Acting on an urgent request from the Kinnaur superintendent of police, the Army quickly mobilized a Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) column.

Despite darkness, strong water currents, and unstable terrain, the rescue team reached the location and found four civilians stranded on the far bank of the river. Using precision and high coordination, the HADR team illuminated the area for night operations and guided the civilians to safer ground.

The team also evacuated the injured person and admitted him to Regional Hospital, Reckong Peo. To sustain the stranded individuals through the night, the Army used new-generation equipment, including the Logistics Drone High Altitude (LDHA) system, to ferry essentials like food and coconut water across the floodwaters.

The civilians have been taken to the Army camp in Pooh, and plans are in place to bring them back once the water levels recede.
