Rahul Gandhi Initiates an Online Campaign Encouraging Citizens to ‘Combat Vote Theft’

New Delhi: In response to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of election rigging, the Congress party has introduced a web portal that allows individuals to register their demand for accountability from the Election Commission of India regarding what they term “vote theft” and to show support for the Leader of Opposition’s call for digital voter rolls.

“This is treason, this is an act against the state, the time will come! We will catch you! You cannot escape! It is vital that we reveal vote theft,” declares Rahul Gandhi in a video shared on the portal.

In a post on X in Hindi, Gandhi stated that “vote theft” undermines the fundamental democratic principle of ‘one person, one vote’, emphasizing that a clean voters’ list is crucial for ensuring free and fair elections.

“Our request to the Election Commission is straightforward — ensure transparency and make the digital voter list accessible to the public and political parties for independent auditing,” he stated. Gandhi encouraged individuals to support this initiative by registering on the vote theft portal.

“This is a battle to safeguard democracy,” he continued. Anyone can access the portal link to download “vote theft evidence, demand accountability from the EC, and report vote theft”.

In the video featured on the portal, he reiterated his serious allegations of a “massive criminal fraud” in the elections, implicating collusion between the BJP and the EC. He referenced an analysis conducted in a Karnataka constituency, labeling it “a violation of the Constitution”.

The portal also includes a message asserting that the vote is the cornerstone of our democracy, yet it is facing a “systematic assault by the BJP, with the Election Commission being complicit”. “In just one assembly segment of Bangalore Central, we identified over 100,000 fraudulent voters that aided the BJP in winning this Lok Sabha seat. Consider the implications if this occurred in 70-100 seats – it would undermine free elections,” it claimed.

“The Congress and INDIA have previously raised concerns, including in Maharashtra. Now we possess evidence. We will combat this vote theft with all our might. Join us in defending our democracy,” the message on the portal states.  Once an individual registers on the portal, a certificate is generated in their name, indicating their opposition to “vote chori”.

“I endorse Rahul Gandhi’s request for digital voter rolls from the Election Commission,” the certificate states. Additionally, the portal provides individuals with the option to call a number and enter the link in the SMS to complete their registration.

The certificate is signed by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress general secretary K C Venugopal, and treasurer Ajay Maken.

Numerous Congress leaders and supporters have registered on the portal and shared their certificates on social media.

As Congress leaders amplify Rahul Gandhi’s allegations of “vote theft,” Election Commission officials reiterated on Saturday their demand for the Leader of the Opposition to either sign a declaration supporting his claims or apologize to the nation for making “false” accusations.

Following a day of exchanges between Gandhi and the Election Commission regarding alleged vote theft in at least three states, officials from the poll authority once again called for a signed declaration from the Congress leader to validate his assertions.
