Hyderabad: Netflix has unveiled the eagerly awaited first-look teaser for the live-action Season 2 of One Piece, and in an unexpected announcement, confirmed that the popular series will also be returning for a third season. This news was revealed during a special event in Tokyo that celebrated Eiichiro Oda’s legendary manga, exciting fans around the globe.
The second season, titled Into the Grand Line, is scheduled to debut in 2026. The teaser, released today, provides a sneak peek of Monkey D. Luffy (Inaki Godoy) and his Straw Hat Pirates as they embark on their journey into the fabled Grand Line, a treacherous ocean route that separates the world into Paradise and the New World. Throughout their adventure, they will encounter strange islands, formidable foes, and the ultimate treasure: the One Piece.
New Enemies, Old Friends
In the second season, the Straw Hats will confront the enigmatic agents of Baroque Works. The teaser highlights confrontations with characters such as Miss Wednesday, also known as Princess Vivi (Charithra Chandran), and Miss All Sunday, also known as Nico Robin (Lera Abova), who showcases her abilities with the Hana Hana no Mi devil fruit.
Marine Vice-Admiral Smoker (Callum Kerr) makes a notable appearance with his signature twin cigars. Fans are also treated to a glimpse of the friendly giant Brogy (Brendan Murray) and the enormous Island Whale Laboon, suggesting storylines from the Reverse Mountain arc.
Interestingly, Tony Tony Chopper (previously revealed at Netflix’s Tudum event) is absent from the teaser, and there are no clear scenes from the Drum Island arc, where the cherished reindeer doctor first appears. Chopper will be portrayed through voice and motion capture by Mikaela Hoover.
Expanded Cast and Production Updates
Returning cast members include Mackenyu as Roronoa Zoro, Emily Rudd as Nami, Jacob Romero as Usopp, and Taz Skylar as Sanji. New additions to the cast include Joe Manganiello as Sir Crocodile, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.
In Season 3, Ian Stokes will take on the role of co-showrunner alongside Joe Tracz, succeeding Matt Owens, who left in March. Stokes has a background as a co-executive producer and writer from Season 1. Production for the third season has commenced, following an unusually early greenlight that highlights Netflix’s trust in the series.
Since its launch in 2023, One Piece has rapidly risen to become one of the most beloved shows on Netflix, appealing to both manga enthusiasts and newcomers for its faithful adaptation and impressive production quality. With the expanded universe in Season 2 and the renewal for Season 3 already in progress, Netflix is evidently placing a long-term bet on the Straw Hat Pirates.
