16 schoolgirls were hospitalized after fainting during a prayer session in Balasore

In a troubling event at Nigamananda High School located in Kalyani, within the Bahanaga block of Balasore district, a typical morning prayer session descended into chaos on Wednesday when multiple students unexpectedly fell ill.

The incident started with one girl fainting, followed by 15 others who reported dizziness and physical discomfort, necessitating immediate medical intervention.

School officials quickly organized ambulances to take the affected students to Gopalpur Community Health Centre for initial treatment. Following medical recommendations, they were later transferred to Remuna Medical College for further assistance. Concerned parents, alarmed by the circumstances, took their children home, including those who did not exhibit any symptoms.

Medical personnel confirmed that five of the girls were in critical condition and were subsequently moved to Balasore District Headquarters Hospital for more advanced care. The District Education Officer also visited the hospital to evaluate the situation and ensure that appropriate medical support was provided.

As reported by Dawn, the unknown rickshaw driver escaped the scene following the accident.

The Rescue 1122 medical team administered first aid to the injured individuals and transported them to the government hospital, while the woman’s body was given to the local police.
