Seven personnel from the Delhi Police have been suspended for failing to identify a dummy explosive during a mock drill at the historic Red Fort.
Sources indicate that operatives from the Special Cell, disguised as civilians, successfully infiltrated the area with a dummy bomb—highlighting a significant failure in surveillance protocols. This drill, aimed at assessing alertness and response strategies, was part of the extensive security preparations for the August 15 celebrations, during which the Prime Minister traditionally addresses the nation.
Officials have confirmed that all personnel involved were suspended due to negligence following this oversight. The Red Fort has been reinforced with multilayered security measures, including drone surveillance, sniper units, and heightened monitoring in anticipation of the national event.
This incident comes on the heels of another troubling occurrence: the detention of five Bangladeshi nationals who attempted to gain unauthorized access to the Red Fort earlier this week. Their identities and intentions are currently under investigation.
