World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) star Hulk Hogan, aged 71, passed away on Thursday in Florida, leaving the sports and entertainment community in mourning. Indian celebrities, such as actors Varun Dhawan and Arjun Kapoor, expressed their sorrow over the loss of the wrestling legend.
Varun shared a tribute from WWE on his Instagram story, which stated, “WWE is saddened to learn that legendary WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan played a crucial role in helping WWE gain global fame in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans.”
He captioned the story, “You inspired an entire generation, Hulkster. RIP.” Arjun also shared a post about Hogan’s legacy on his Instagram story, accompanied by a heartfelt message. He wrote, “A part of my childhood just went with you, Hulkster. Thank you for the memories.”
Hollywood stars like Sylvester Stallone, Dwayne Johnson, and Brooke Shields also paid tribute to the WWE icon. Sylvester posted a still from ‘Rocky 3’ (1985) on his Instagram, featuring a fight scene with Hogan. He captioned his post, “I had the pleasure of meeting this brilliant personality and showman when he was 26 years old. He was absolutely wonderful, and his incredible talent made Rocky III truly special. My heart breaks. I can’t believe he’s gone.”
Brooke, in her emotional Instagram tribute, wrote, “Rest easy, Hulk. This moment and his entire guest appearance on ‘Suddenly Susan’ were true highlights. Sending love to all of his loved ones today.”
Dwayne, who is also a WWE wrestler in addition to being an actor, shared a video of his wrestling match with Hogan along with a lengthy note. He wrote, “Rest in Peace, Terry Bollea aka The Immortal Hulk Hogan. To millions of children, you were a childhood hero – myself included.” He also reflected on the memories of being inspired by the wrestling icon and eventually facing him in the ring at the age of 29.
Actor Chris Hemsworth was previously preparing for a biopic about Hogan, but the project was put on hold because of production delays.
The WWE icon was recognized for his career in professional wrestling. His birth name was Terry Bollea.
The wrestler was declared dead at the hospital after experiencing a cardiac arrest at his residence in Florida, according to a report.
