A young girl was reportedly gang-raped multiple times by three men before they attempted to bury her alive in an effort to hide their crime in Jagatpur district, Odisha, as reported by sources.
Currently, two of the suspects, who are brothers, have been apprehended, while the third remains at large.
Sources indicate that the two brothers, Bhagyadhar Das and Panchanan Das, from Banashbara village in Jagatpur, along with their accomplice known as Tulu Babu, allegedly subjected the girl to repeated assaults over a prolonged period.
This ongoing sexual abuse led to the girl becoming pregnant. Upon realizing that she was five months pregnant, the three men attempted to bury her alive to conceal their actions. Fortunately, she was rescued just in time.
After the incident, the survivor was taken to the District Headquarters Hospital for medical care, where she is being closely monitored by medical professionals.
Subsequently, the survivor’s father filed a formal complaint against the accused at the nearest police station, which resulted in a case being registered under the appropriate sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
While Bhagyadhar Das and Panchanan Das have been captured, Tulu Babu has managed to escape the village and is still on the run as authorities continue their search for him.
An ongoing investigation into the case is being conducted, according to the sources.
