Wrestling Icon Hulk Hogan Dies at 71 from Cardiac Arrest

Legendary pro-wrestler Hulk Hogan (born Terry Gene Bollea) died at age 71 on July 24, 2025 after suffering cardiac arrest at his Clearwater, Florida home. Emergency crews responded early Thursday morning and transported him via stretcher to an ambulance, but he could not be revived.

Hogan rose to fame in the 1980s with WWF/WWE, debuting in 1979 and becoming a 12-time world champion. His towering presence, charismatic appeal, and patriotic persona propelled wrestling into mainstream entertainment. A two-time WWE Hall of Famer (2005, 2020), he starred in movies like Rocky III and the reality show Hogan Knows Best.

Despite his legendary status, his legacy was marred by controversies, including a racist remark scandal in 2015, which led to WWE temporarily distancing itself before reinstating him in 2018 . Still, Hogan’s impact on professional wrestling and pop culture was immense.

He is survived by his wife, Sky Daily, and their two children. Funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.

Outside of the wrestling ring, Hogan successfully ventured into the realms of film and television. He made his cinematic debut in 1982, portraying “Thunderlips” in Rocky III, and subsequently took on leading roles in No Holds Barred, Suburban Commando, and Mr. Nanny. Additionally, he appeared in the VH1 reality series Hogan Knows Best alongside his then-wife Linda and their children, Nick and Brooke.

Hogan was initially inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005. However, he faced removal in 2015 due to a controversy surrounding racist comments made in a secretly recorded video. Following a lawsuit against Gawker, the publisher of the tape, he emerged victorious. He was reinstated into the Hall of Fame in 2020 as part of the NWO.

In 2024, Hogan once again captured public attention by showcasing his distinctive style at the Republican National Convention.
