‘Profoundly Distressed’: PM Modi Offers Condolences on Bangladesh Plane Crash

Bangladesh Plane Crash: On Monday, India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences for the lives lost in the tragic plane crash in Bangladesh.

In a message posted on X, the Prime Minister affirmed India’s solidarity with Bangladesh and its readiness to provide any necessary support and assistance.

“I am deeply shocked and saddened by the loss of lives, many of whom were young students, in a tragic air crash in Dhaka. Our thoughts are with the grieving families. We hope for the quick recovery of those injured. India stands in solidarity with Bangladesh and is prepared to offer all possible support and assistance,” PM Modi stated.

Bangladesh Plane Crash

At least 19 individuals lost their lives and over 100 were injured when a Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crashed onto a school building in Dhaka on Monday. The aircraft impacted the Milestone School and College campus located in Dhaka’s Uttara area.

The defence ministry reported that the F-7 BGI training aircraft took off at 1:06 pm and crashed into the college campus shortly thereafter. The crash was accompanied by a loud explosion and the aircraft quickly caught fire, according to a fire service official.

Emergency services, including firefighting units, ambulances, and air force helicopters, were dispatched to the scene immediately following the crash.

At least 83 of the survivors, primarily students, are receiving treatment in hospitals across the capital, with some reported to be in critical condition, as stated by a spokesperson. The pilot of the plane was among those who perished, as reported by The Associated Press, citing regional officials.

The government has declared a day of national mourning.
