Telugu actor Fish Venkat Dies due to kidney failure the age of 53

The Telugu film industry is in mourning following the passing of veteran actor Venkat Raj, popularly known as Fish Venkat, who passed away on Friday at the age of 53. He had been receiving treatment for kidney failure at PRK Hospital in Chandanagar, Hyderabad, where he was placed on ventilator support during his final days.

Fish Venkat had been struggling with severe kidney complications for the last nine months. With both kidneys failing, he was undergoing regular dialysis, but his health continued to decline. Despite the dedicated efforts of medical professionals, he ultimately lost his battle with the illness.

A well-known figure in Telugu cinema, Venkat began his film career with the 2000 blockbuster ‘Kushi’ and gained recognition for his unique comic timing and villainous roles in films such as ‘Aadi’, ‘Bunny’, and ‘Gabbar Singh’. Renowned for his distinctive Telangana accent, he established a strong presence across various genres. His recent roles in Slum Dog Husband and Narakasura received positive feedback from audiences.

In the months leading up to his passing, his family faced challenges in managing the escalating medical costs. His daughter, Sravanthi, disclosed that a kidney transplant—estimated to cost around Rs 50 lakh—was urgently needed. However, financial limitations and the lack of a suitable donor complicated the situation. Although actor Prabhas provided some assistance, it was insufficient to cover the necessary expenses.

Fish Venkat is survived by his wife, Suvarna, and daughter, Sravanthi. His death creates a significant void in Telugu cinema, where his dynamic performances and on-screen charm endeared him to many.
