A CRPF soldier was punched & kicked by Kanwariyas in Mirzapur, Uttar Pradesh

In a disturbing event from Uttar Pradesh, seven Kanwariyas were detained after reportedly assaulting a CRPF jawan at the Mirzapur railway station.

The footage of the incident that circulated widely on social media has sparked significant outrage.

According to India Today, the altercation between the jawan and the kanwariyas started over a disagreement concerning train ticket purchases.

CCTV footage captured the saffron-clad pilgrims restraining the jawan on the ground while they punched and kicked him in front of a large crowd. Subsequently, one of the bystanders was seen trying to intervene, pulling one of the attackers away as depicted in the video.

The CRPF jawan was en route to board the Brahmaputra Mail when he was assaulted, as reported.

The video, which is being extensively circulated on various social media platforms, is inciting public anger and raising concerns about crowd management and law enforcement during the Kanwar Yatra.

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) responded promptly after being alerted about the assault. A case was filed, and all seven attackers were apprehended following an investigation, the publication stated.

“Seven Kanwariyas have been arrested in connection with the assault on a CRPF jawan,” the official confirmed.

In a separate incident, police reported on Wednesday that they arrested a 31-year-old man for allegedly causing a disturbance along the Kanwar yatra route.

Sonu Mainuddin, a resident of Lohiya Nagar, was stopped on Tuesday night near Baghpat Adda while speeding on a motorcycle and repeatedly shouting, according to police.

Sub-Inspector Pramod Kumar and Fateh Singh, who were on duty at that time, instructed him to settle down, but he persisted with his disruptive behavior, police stated.

The events raised significant concerns regarding the security, legal, and order conditions, particularly during the Kanwar Yatra, a prominent Hindu pilgrimage where devotees gather sacred Ganga water and walk barefoot to present it at Shiva temples.

This year’s Kanwar Yatra commenced on July 11 and will end on July 23, coinciding with the sacred month of Shravan.
