Hindutva promotes ahimsa, not fragility: Shivraj Chouhan’s jab at Nehru regarding ‘Hindi Chini’

Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan stated that Hindutva is fundamentally rooted in the essence of Bharat’s land and water, representing a lifestyle that embraces universal love and non-violence. Chouhan subtly criticized the ‘Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai’ slogan popularized by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru during the lead-up to India’s 1962 conflict with China, asserting that the non-violence inherent in Hindutva does not equate to weakness.

In an exclusive interview with India Today TV’s Executive Editor Preeti Choudhary, the Union Minister remarked, “We advocate non-violence, but this is only achievable through strength. If we continue to chant ‘Hindi Chini Bhai Bhai’ while China encroaches on our territory, that is a sign of weakness.”

Chouhan emphasized that Hindutva aspires for the happiness and welfare of all, a sentiment echoed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas.” Nevertheless, he noted that while Hindutva wishes well for everyone, it does not extend goodwill to those who threaten the nation.

“PM Modi has paved the way — if anyone dares to challenge India, we will not allow them to escape… Surgical strikes, air strikes, Operation Sindoor — without such measures, India would not survive,” he asserted.

Chouhan underscored the necessity for India to be robust and self-sufficient to effectively practice and promote non-violence globally.

“The senior BJP leader further stated that the fundamental tenet of Hindutva is rooted in sarva dharma sambhava (equal respect for all religions). “We have ingrained this principle in Bharat’s soil and water… we cherish everyone,” he concluded.
