After several weeks of speculation and hints, Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment has finally announced that Kriti Sanon will take over the role from new mom Kiara Advani in Don 3. The film will feature Ranveer Singh in the lead role, with Farhan Akhtar directing once again, similar to Shah Rukh Khan’s Don and Don 2.

According to a release from Excel Entertainment regarding Farhan Akhtar’s 120 Bahadur, the actor-director “is also gearing up for his next directorial project, Don 3, which is anticipated to begin filming in January 2026. The movie will star Ranveer Singh and Kriti Sanon in prominent roles. Casting is currently in progress, with reports indicating that the producers are in discussions with a top A-list actor for the significant antagonist role.”

Initially, the film was set to feature Ranveer Singh alongside Kiara Advani as the leads. However, Kiara decided to withdraw from the project during her pregnancy. A report from Pinkvilla suggested that she has “chosen to prioritize her personal life” over the film. Following this, it was reported that Kriti Sanon had stepped in to replace Kiara.

Kriti Sanon has frequently been seen outside Excel Entertainment’s office. Recently, she shared a birthday message for Ranveer Singh on Instagram, and at the end, she noted, “P.S. Looking forward to working with you soon!” These instances only intensified the speculation while waiting for official confirmations.

Now, Excel Entertainment’s press release confirms that Kriti Sanon has been cast as the leading lady in Don 3. This announcement comes shortly after Kiara Advani revealed that she has welcomed her first child with Sidharth Malhotra—a baby girl. The couple welcomed their daughter on July 15, 2025, at Reliance Hospital in Mumbai.

Meanwhile, although Excel Entertainment has confirmed Kriti Sanon as the leading lady for Don 3, they have yet to address the rumors regarding Shah Rukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra making cameo appearances in the film. Regarding the antagonist, sources indicate that although Vikrant Massey and Vijay Deverakonda were considered for the role, both actors turned down the chance because the character was perceived as lacking depth. With Kriti Sanon and Ranveer Singh collaborating on screen for the first time, it will be intriguing to find out who will take on the villain role in Farhan Akhtar’s Don 3.
