Naga Chaitanya’s Thandel Sets a New Record in TRP Ratings Following Its TV Premiere

Thandel is emerging as one of the most successful Telugu films of the year, progressing steadily. It has now achieved another milestone. After a successful run in theaters and on OTT platforms, this unique love story has also won hearts since its debut on television. As a result, it has set a record in TRP ratings, becoming the second-most viewed film of 2025 on Zee Telugu.

To share this fantastic news, the creators of Thandel posted on X, confirming that the film has become a phenomenon following its television premiere. The makers reported that the film has achieved a TRP of 10.32, making it the third Telugu film of the year to surpass double digits in ratings.

As reported by Gulte, Venkatesh Daggubati’s Sankranthiki Vasthunnam and Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2 were the only films prior to Thandel that achieved notable TRP ratings. Sankranthiki Vasthunnam premiered on ZEE Telugu, while Pushpa 2 was broadcast on Star Maa.

Featuring Naga Chaitanya in the lead role, Thandel was released in theaters on February 7. In addition to Chay, the film includes performances by Sai Pallavi, Aadukalam Naren, Divya Pillai, Karunakaran, Kalpa Latha, and Babloo Prithiveeraj in significant roles. It is also available for streaming on Netflix.

The narrative revolves around Raju, a brave fisherman who inadvertently crosses into Pakistani waters with fellow villagers. His journey, balancing his love for fishing and his affection for Bujji Thalli, portrayed by Sai Pallavi, forms the core of the story. The film is inspired by a true event.

Anticipating the future, Naga Chaitanya is poised to star in the working title NC24. This film is among the highest-budget projects of Chay’s career and is expected to present him in a completely new role, distinguishing it from his previous works.

The film is helmed by directors Virupshaka and Karthik Varma Dandu, known for their work on Kartikeya, with Sukumar contributing to the screenplay. Production is managed by BVSN Prasad, Sukumar, and Bapineedu.
