Mohit Suri, recognized for his contributions to films such as Aashiqui 2, Kalyug, and Ek Villain, consistently highlights his close relationship with his cousin sister Alia Bhatt.
He shares captivating stories from the Jigra star’s early years and provides insights into her career, frequently praising Alia’s exceptional talent. In a recent discussion, the filmmaker revealed that the now-superstar had always aspired to be an actress, clearly defining her ambitions even before she reached the age of 10.
“From the age of six, Alia expressed her desire to act,” Mohit Suri reminisced, noting that those around the actress recognized her innate connection to the camera. He elaborated on how her passion for films, music, and performance became evident at a remarkably young age.
Reflecting on a specific event from 2005, when one of his music remix videos from Zeher was released, Suri recounted, “The remix video of my song had been launched, and Mahesh Bhatt Sahab didn’t quite grasp it. It was Alia who remarked, ‘It’s really good.’ If the younger generation enjoys it, then it’s genuinely impressive.”
Suri further characterized Alia as “super commercial ever since that time,” emphasizing her keen understanding of what resonates with audiences.
He reminisced about cherished family dinners, sharing a delightful anecdote that particularly resonated with him. “Alia was beside a lamp, looking exceptionally beautiful. I pulled out my phone to take a picture. She inquired, ‘What are you doing?’ I replied, ‘Just taking a picture. You look lovely.’ She instantly turned and remarked, ‘You are capturing the wrong side,’ showcasing her dimpled smile.”
Suri highlighted that Alia had a distinct vision even at the age of 8 or 9. “She always aspired to be an actress, to shine as a star. We were all aware of that,” he noted.
On the professional front, Mohit Suri is set to make his return to the cinema with his forthcoming directorial project, Saiyaara. He will be introducing new talents Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda.
