Rain interrupts the match on the fifth day, with India needing seven wickets to beat England

Play on the final day of the second Test between England and India was postponed on Sunday due to rain at Edgbaston, with the home team at 72-3 in pursuit of a daunting target of 608 runs for victory.

Players hurried for shelter during their warm-up activities, and the covers were placed on the pitch before the rain subsided, enabling the ground staff to dry the surface prior to the resumption of play.

Ollie Pope (24) and Harry Brook (15) were at the crease when play was halted on day four, with England still requiring 536 runs to achieve what would be the largest successful run chase in Test history.

India had declared their innings at 427-6 after Shubman Gill scored another century (161), while KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant, and Ravindra Jadeja contributed with half-centuries.

England currently leads the series 1-0 after their victory in the first Test at Headingley.
