A 22-year-old woman in Pune, Maharashtra, was reportedly raped on Wednesday evening by an unknown man who gained access to her home by pretending to be a courier delivery person. The assailant allegedly took a selfie with the victim and left a threatening message on her phone.

The incident took place around 7:30 pm in a housing society in the Kondhwa area. The woman was home alone when the man knocked on her door, asserting he was there to deliver a package.

“Her brother had left for work. The suspect knocked on the door, claiming to deliver a courier, and successfully entered the apartment,” a senior police official informed reporters.

The perpetrator also took a selfie using the victim’s phone and left a message warning her against reporting the crime, stating he had taken her pictures and would post them on social media, as reported by PTI news agency, citing deputy commissioner of police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde.

On the same day, around 7:30 pm, a delivery person with a bank envelope entered the residence of the 22-year-old woman. When she stepped inside to retrieve the pin for the delivery, he shut the door and assaulted her, DCP Shinde stated.
